I thought I remember hearing that they came in 2 different sizes, 14x5 and 14x7. I was wondering if the 14x7 rims with 205/75-14 would fit the rear of a 62 valient with out rubbin, or would the narrower ones fit better? I'm just sick of those 13's that don't even start to fill the fender well up. How much do they usually cost, both the 5 and the 7 inch wide variaties? Thanks.

Depends on year I think, but for 72 they had a 5-on-4" 14" x 4.5" and 14" x 5.5". To go wider I think you need the SBP ralleys which I think were 6 and 7" wide.

Jesse, they are available from Wheel Vintique brand new for around 76 bucks apiece, if I remember correctly. I have a set of the 14X6s on my Christmas list.

No expert on this subject, except to say when I purchased my Dart it had a set of 14SBP from a 70 Duster, unfortunetly they wern't part of the deal, but the fit was snug, I have access to the duster so I can get some measurements.....Dave

I've got the small bolt ralley's on my '74 duster with 235's and they fit well...tight, but well.

What about some off a bigger car, like a coronet perhaps. I just need some that'll fill my wheel wells a bit more. I probably was thinking ralleys with the 7", butI need the plain steelies.

SBP ralley's are only 5.5" stock. If you want more width you have to have them made up custom.

Okay, what about truck wheels? They seem to have there off set more towards the back. Has anyone used them?

Truck rims have the 4.5" bolt pattern, with the same offsets as the cars.

Small Bolt Pattern (SBP) has little choices.
The '70-'76 SBP Rallye, as stated was 14x5.5
The steel wheels were 14x4.5, 14x5 and 14x5.5
There was an aluminum 14x5.5 wheel in '69 but it was recalled after a few weeks, known as the recall wheel, a nice SBP set would sell for $1000-$1500!
So the widest OEM SBP 14" wheel is 5.5"
Again, as stated above, customs rims are available up to 15x10
If you want an OEM SBP rallye, they are $150-$300 at the swap meets
If you want an OEM SBP 14x5.5 steel wheel, if a swap meet vendor knows his stuff, they will be MORE $ than the Rallye as they are harder to find, if your lucky maybe you can find some that the seller thinks are just 14" rims and get them for $10 each. If you have a choice, get the '70-up rim with the full contact to hub center

Large Bolt Pattern (LBP) had many choices.
The '70-'76 LBP Rallye was 14x5.5, 14x6, 15x6.5 and 15x7
The steel wheels were 14x4.5, 14x5, 14x5.5, 14x6, 15x5.5 15x6, 15x6.5, 15x7 and 15x8
The steel cop wheels were 15x7
There were some other styled wheels of various patterns in 15x6.5, 15x7 and 15x8
And same as SPB, the LBP custom rims are available up to 15x10

I'm thinking like a 14x5.5 or 6

Hey John, that's a very common wheel. Generally, the steel 14x5.5 will be '69-down, the 14x6 will be '70-up. $5-$10 is what I would think is fair. I have some LBP 14x5.5 Rallyes or steel 15x 6.5 and 15x7 if your looking.

I need a set of LBP steel 15x6 wheels off a '67, '66 may be OK. Anybody?

damn thats alot of choices, I thought the 60's and early 70's truck rims were SBP(I'm probably wrong). I just got to keep an eye out now, whats the biggest tire size for the 14x4.5" ?

I may be interested in your LBP 15x6.5 steel. I think it is going to be a while before I actually do the upgrade and the wheels and tires are last on my list of purchases.

I’m still collecting other parts. I can’t believe it was around this time last year that I bought the disk setup from you. At least I have made progress on the car and it is back on the road.

If I had anything but a 4 door valiant I would jump at your set of rallys. I remember seeing those. Very nice.

I don’t remember exactly why I was thinking about going with the 14 inch rims. Originally I planned on using a set of 15 inch. I am a bit nervous about getting a rim an tire combo that is too large to fit in the rear fender of a 63 valiant.

Looking at a Goodyear tire brochure I got from the local dealer.... P185/70 or 75 series is the biggest you can put on a 4.5" wide wheel. There were a couple 185/70 tires in the brochure that required a minimim 5.0" wide wheel.

195 and 205 (14" dia) series generally require a 5.0" and wider wheel in this brocure.
