Tom, I have cop car rims on my diplomat. They were poorly painted by the P.O, and are rusting. Would you recommend sand blasting and powder coating, or painting, for this use. If powder coating ,what would be a fair price, and what questions should I ask. We have a couple of places that do powder coating, in the area, but I have never had any thing coated, and only know what it is, but no details about it.
Thanks

I would definetly recommend powder coating them. They will last longer and look better.
Definetly sandblast them. Ask them if they can do that. Also a good phosphate wash after blasting would not hurt. Good prep is the key to a successful coating job. Find out what kind of powder they recommend(TGIC,Epoxy...etc) and let me know.

What color are you going to paint them?

As for price that varies alot. If I do not have to blast them then most wheels run 20-30 each to coat them any in house color. Most blasting will run from 50-70/hr depending on the company. (4 wheels should take no longer than 30 mins with a good high pressure blast system) If you can blast them yourself you can save some $$$.

Follow this link and read how it works.

That is a hard color to match. I have looked around and never found one that was a dead on match in appearance. Have found some that look very close and would be good for a street car.

It is for my wfes grocery getter. The car is tan, and the wheels were argent when I got them. They looked good with trim rings and flying coffin baby caps. But now they are starting to rust.
