I found a treasure trove yesterday. Aaron and I went to a site to check out a tip on a Barracuda lurking in the brush. In addition to the Barracuda, we found four Dusters, a Valiant, some kind of Dodge, a Volare, and a Dodge 440.

Here are pics of the finds we made. I know about the Dusters, except the "Gold Duster", what can you tell me about what makes it special. Tell me what you can about the Barracuda, Dodge 440, Valiant, and the mystery Dodge.

There are no prizes for the winner with the most correct answers. I'll tally the results when I get a chance to go back to the yard.

Jerry

FACT: They are all gorgeous cars.

FACT: They all need to be restored and put back on the road where they belong.

FACT: They are all severely underappreciated.

FACT: The first car (the mystery car I suspect) makes me drool.

Beat that suckas!

Cecil, how are you so sure #6 is a 73 and not a 72? The only difference, I think, from what you can tell in that picture at least would be the hood, and that hood is awfully hard to make out. The tailights would be a dead giveaway if we could see them.

step,
The fourth pic is the one I could not make out an emblem on.

Pierre,
If I remember right (I was so excited), the tail lights look just like those on Aaron's '74 Sport. I think Cecil is correct. I'll know more later.

Pierre, I'm not sure if it's '72 or '73 but I don't see the Plymouth script on the left front edge of the hood that was on '72s.

Jerry, the #4 pic, the '66 Dart is a 170 model. It has the 170 side trim. '66 Dart 270s and GTs had model scrpit on them but not the 170, that's why you didn't see anything.

hey, i wanna play!

62 Dart 440 (maybe the 410 HP 413ci?)
69 Barracuda (probably a /6, the V-8 cars had exceptional stripes/badging that year, unless this one is repainted which is unlikely due to the color applied, yet, you could order one as an option on coupes i think or its a transplant, the exhaust is misleading)
68 Barracuda(if its one with the "mod top" option, you had best go back and buy it RIGHT NOW!)
66 Dart 170(best model year of the decade)
66 Valiant Signet (just cant remember the significance of the "Signet". my brain aint that good anymore and it werent that good in the first place

i think the last is a:

73 Gold Duster (it has the optional sport vinyl top and this car is about as opposite to the "Feather Duster" as you could get. that, by the way, is not a counter challenge of knowledge. im not smart enough for that.

Picture #2 and #3 are the same car. 1969 Barracuda and if that tail panel is correct for the car BUY IT!

Agree on the '69 tail panel. Looks to be a 'Formula S'. That means 340 or 383!

Tom is correct, #2 and #3 pics are of the same car. I don't know enough about Barracudas to know what to look for, so I didn't pay much attention to the style of the rear of this one. All I noticed is the rear window is busted out. Since Saturday, I have found out there were different models for the Barracuda, and I can't tell you if it is the fastback or a coupe. Can someone detect which it is from the pics? My guess is that the car is original. Several of the other cars in this man's collection all carry the badge of the local Chrysler dealer who was in business back in that period.
He is a mechanic, and I suspect he took these in trade for business or otherwise, and just stored them away. He told me that he always had "intentions of doing something with them," but just ran out of time. Sound familiar?

Aaron climbed through the brush and popped the hood of the Barracuda. I took a bad picture in near darkness of a V8 engine inside the bay. That's encouraging (sorry slanters.) Can't wait to go back for more info.

Jerry

Looks like a fastback near as I can tell from the pic from the rear. If it is a V8 Formula S car BUY IT! VIN # will be on the drive side visible through the windshield. If you get the vin number or better yet fender tag I can decode it for you and tell you exactly what it is.

Good luck it looks like you might have stumbled on a find!
