Post subject: | Harmonic Balancer swap? |
I have a 71 D100 SWB and it has a 1975 /6 in it, I believe it's out of a Dart. Anyway, won't get into the story as to why I need to do this, but I'm wanting to remove the double/triple (can't remember which it has) balancer/pulley off and put a single balancer/pully on it from my spare block. Changing from a dual pulley to a single pulley, is that going to cause any crank balancing issues? |

Luckily the slant six is a neutral balance engine so all the cranks are internally zero balanced...in other words, the balancer off a 1987 truck shouldn't be a problem for a 1963 dart.... but: the location of the timing mark did change in certain model years so make sure that when your swap it out you mark it for TDC in the correct location.... good luck. -D.Idiot |

On the same note, the timing mark for TDC #1 is supposed to be 5 degrees off the keyway for a 71 timing cover, right? Thats what my damper was set to when it was rebuilt.... Can't remember if it was before or after though. |

The other pulleys unbolt from the damper. You do have to remove the damper to unbolt the inside pulley though. ![]() |
