Have a 69 Dart 225/904. Thinking of going to a 4 speed 833.
Better to take the engine/trans out? Or can it be done in the car?
No other reason to take the SL6 out, it runs great. But wondering
about the best way to do it when changing transmissions etc.
Seems like I recall it is easier to take an engine/automatic in or
out together, but a stick trans separated?

I always do my trans conversions with engine still in the car, but you can do it the other way too...

I do tranny conversions with the engine still in the car, unless I have a new engine / trans combo to install as a set.

As for advantages, less stuff to disconnect when you leave the engine and just swap the gear box. The down side, hosting that 833 up into position can be hard if you do not have lot's of working room so get the car high up on jack stands to do this swap.

I just did mine with the engine in. Worked out good. Like Doc said the more room the better under there.
