I met a man with a sweet 62 Lancer GT down here in Troy and told him about the event. There's a good chance he'll be there on Saturday.
He says he used to race the Falcons and Corvairs when it was new and blow them into the weeds :D .
He says he doesn't race it anymore, but we'll see how long that lasts
He bought it new, traded it, immediately regretted it, and later bought it back!

Man, I had to think where "Captain Caos" Came from. I gotta see that movie again. Is it on DVD?

See you guys tomorrow an NW. I just moved to Apex NC two weeks ago. Looking forward to meeting the local gang. My Slant car is still in pieces. Some here and some still in California. I'll explain more in person tomorrow

Mike

17 cars showed up and everyone made the call for the first round. When the dust cleared around 1AM the final three were Ron Parker, Leighton Drake and Tom Drake.

Since all three had already had a bye run we matched for the bye into the finals and Leighton Drake was the lucky winner.

Ron used a great .025 light and a dead-on run to send me loading up for the night. In the final Leighton Drake was caught napping at the tree and Ron used another good .05 light to put both Drake's on the trailer and pocket the Winners purse and 50pts!

Great job Ron and thanks to eveyone that showed and supported Ron and Kay Hamby's efforts.

Congrats, Ron Parker. I am glad you had a good turnout, and no rain. I like the WRP race, but just couldn't afford it this year.

I still can't believe it, but I actually got into the second round of both the slant race and the Mod race!
I matched up with Lou in a time trial and had a good race, then I lined up with him in the first round of Mod and we both broke out, even after we both let off. Since I broke out less, I got the win! I guess my stellar half second reaction time threw off his calculations
For the slant race, I was paired up with Derrick in the white truck, and we actually had a good race, with him taking me by .02 at the green but I was closer to the number at the end.

Of course, my glory was short-lived as I lost big time to Leighton in the second rounds of both classes! The "old man" schooled me twice on the same night! At least I don't have lipstick on my car...

Congrats to Ron, thanks to everyone!

I shot some pictures with My camera phone.

http://homepage.mac.com/mandreas/MyVehi ... bum65.html

I also shot some video or the racing. We left aroung 10:30 'cause it's a long ride home but I got a bunch of the early rounds. I'll try and make up some DVD's this weekend.

This is one of my favorite races. Thanks to Tim Harrold at Empire Chrylser Dodge and Ron Hamby who puts it together. We were a little down and out after three races and i needed this to fire me up again. We had a great field of cars and got to talk to some more racers this year. Look foward to my next race and lets see what happens. Thanks Ron Parker :D
