I just got my 8 3/4 in last night. I am running 15x7 American racing Torque thrust 2's. I bought the wheels and tires used and I think the tires are too big for the car. There is a limited amount of room. What size tire will fit on a 66 dart w/o cutting the wheel well lip? The tires that are on there are 235/60/15

Thank you for any info you can provide

William

I have 225/50R16's on my '66, which are only a little smaller. They currently fit with no problems, although I did have to bend back the inner lip on the front fenders. You don't need to do any cutting to do this mod, and it's not even visible.

I had 235/60R15s in the back of my '66 Dart no problem. The key is the correct offset wheel for the rear end you're using. When I had an A-body 7 1/4 and an A-bdy 8 1/4 Dodge cop car wheels fit perfectly. With cut down C-body wagon axles in the A-body the tires were pushed outward 3/8" and would rub on corners so I had a pair of wheels made with 1/2" more backspacing. Your wheels probably only have 3.5" of backspacing and that's not enough.

I have a '65 Dart, I am running 235/60x15 tires with stock chrysler 15x7" steel rims. No rubbing at all.
