I was reading Tom Condran's book (Performance Handling for Classic Mopars) and on Page 5 he writes:
Quote:
Regrettably, '65-72 rotors can not have the stud pattern re-sized to the large 4½" pattern common to other Mopars. There is no "meat" where the machinist would drill. And outside diameters of the hubs (which center wheels) match only small bolt-pattern wheels.

The bolt pattern can be up-sized only by swapping on rotors from a '66-69 B-Body, if you can find two of those rarities in good condition. These Bendix rotors - and not the calipers from that system - match A-Body knuckles and calipers as if they were built for them. They even share wheel bearings.
I see that Layson's Restorations and the Paddock carry a unicast (combined hub & rotor) version of this rotor. Has anyone tried this B-Body rotor on their A-Body K-H disc brakes? Does anyone know which company manufactures this rotor for Layson's or who else carries this rotor?

Frank

Haven't tried them, but GOSH they're pricey! And I thought SBP KH rotors were expensive...

Of course, that could well be the good 'ol Layson's mark-up. Keep us posted if you track down the mfg and try a pair!

Year One gets $207 each for those B-body rotors. They don't list the A-body K-H rotors.

Someone should call Stainless Steel Brakes and see if their dual bolt pattern rotors will fit the K-H disc brake spindles.

Ok, just called SSB and no dice. Of course if one wanted to put 10" drum spindles on their car they would work, but that's a screwy way to go about it.

Is he saying that the SBP B body rotors fit 9" drum spindles? or that B body BBP rotors fit SBP Abody disc spindles?

Condran was saying -
The 66-69 B body rotors (with a BBP) will fit the spindles for the Abody K&H SBP discs (65-72).

So if you have a SBP Abody K&H disc setup and you want to go to BBP wheels you could just change to those rotors.

Frank: Be really careful with Condran's book. There are some decent suggestions in there, but it is full of factual and theoretical errors.

I suspected that Tom Condran (or Richard Ehrenberg for that matter) may have errors in his book, which is why I'm asking others about their experiences. I have Mopar Suspensions by Mike Martin too and I see there are errors (or at least incomplete information) in that book.

Does anyone know, how much there is difference between ssb dual bolt pattern and original A-body K-H disc? Could it be used in with some mods?
