(Please, pardon any stupidity with this post.) So, I was pulling the slant apart yesterday, and everything was going fine until I got to the two small bolts holding the rear main seal. The heads looked vaguely star shaped (?), and I could find a socket that fit. I ran up to the 'zone, and bought a star-socket set, but none of those fit, either. Am I just missing a regular socket size? Does anybody remember what size it is? Is the bolt something unusual, or am I just an idiot? I can't get to the rear two main cap bolts because the seal is in the way...

Thanks in advance!

They're 12-point, aren't they? A regular 12-point socket ought to fit. Maybe your sockets are 6-point.

Yeah, below a certain size, my sockets are 6-point. I tried a 3/8 6-point (too small) and the next size up (too big). I may be missing a size of socket, though. If I can find out the exact size (and 6 or 12 point), I can track down the socket.

They are 3/8 12 point. Be sure to use a good quality socket as they are easily damaged.
