I have beening searching old posts all afternoon but can't find an answer. I am looking at an engine I might buy for a rebuild. The numbers on the pad near the coil are 225R 250706 14. Can anyone decipher this. The motor was pulled from a 71 Demon. It is possible the numbers sre 205706 14. From what I got from the old posts the the first four 2507(2057) Are the date code?

I found an old post where someone decoded the first four of 2647 as april 29th 1968. Which I couldn't figure out. Bumping this up.

H'mmm. Probably not a '71 engine by those numbers. The first four digits following the displacement (2507 in your case) are the date code, and '70-'71 model year date codes ran from 2957 to 3686. Your 2507 corresponds to June 8, 1968. The 0614 is the daily serial number, so this would've been the 614th 225 engine built at that particular plant on 6/8/68. But, there is still the mystery of your "225R". Your engine ID pad would read PM225 25070614 if the engine were built at Mound Road, PT225(...) if it were built at Trenton. And "R" was used in the late '60s/early '70s as the engine plant code for Windsor, Ontario. So, what you are probably looking at is a 225 made at Windsor Engine Plant on June 8, 1968.
