Hey guys, I think I rued up........
After getting my oil pan/timing cover buttoned up nicely, I noticed a part there on the ground.... :? Its a flat "tin" about 3in across, with a keyway cut in it. I'm afraid it was supposed to go inside the timing cover. Ya'll please tell me I'm wrong!! If it does go inside the cover, what purpose does it serve, I mean, could I leave it off?(Probably a crazy statement)
I think I'm going OK, then I read things like Vynn3's trouble, and I get antsy! (Hope you get it worked out, man. :) )

That part is the oil slinger, late slant sixes ran fine without them, it's a nice part to install to keep the oil off the front seal though....

Hey, BBB, I did the exact, same thing when I put my engine together.

Realized it about the same time you did, too!

After reading around, I got answers like D.Idiot's, so I resolved not to worry about it, but be more careful next time.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm pretty down right now.
