Hey all,
I'm looking for a mild rebuild on my slant in the next month, and was looking for the budget rebuild to tighten up the bottom end. I saw Cliffords bottom end package for 800.00, which would be nice, because with machining of the block, it would only set me back 1100 bucks or so. Has anyone had experience with this package. Hows the cam? Once I build up the top end, what kind of output can I expect?

The main problems with Clifford is that you may never get your parts. Your credit card will be charged in full though. :shock:

As much as I hate to say it...
If you need a 'quick & cheap' short block, price all the chain stores and 'play' them off each other for the best price. The last time I did this, a "36 month" warrenty short block cost me $575.00 (+ $100.00 core) and I also got a full Fel-Pro gasket set for $33.00 as part of the deal.

That price was to the local store's door, which is hard to beat knowing the cost to ship heavy items.

If you are not knowledgeable about engines, have someone who is, check the short block out. I had one engine where one cylinder did not "clean-up" well, I brought it back to the store and they replaced it with another, (1 week later) no questions asked.

Once you have a good short block, add a nice cam and head, select a good intake and exhaust system and 180 to 240 HP is realistic.

While I have never delt with Clifford, I have heard all of the horror stories posted here on the forum. Do a search and you'll find a ton of complants and nothing nice said within the last few years.

You would think that a company that gears it's business to the inline community would be paying attention and make the appropriate decisions. They should atleast be here caring about what is said about the company.

Thanks for the heads up guys, after a search, I found the posts about all the probelms with Clifford. I'm allready pieceing all the parts together for the build. Guess I'll just have to let the mouse do the walking and see who carries what.
