thats something i meant to ask! i've heard around that older engines with softer valve seats NEED lead or a lead substitute to protect those parts, is this true of the slant6s?

Total bullshyt.

As far as porting goes, you want the ports left with a slightly rough finish for mixture distribution. Too smooth a port will cause fuel puddling. Polishing the exhaust side is a waste too. They will carbon over in a short time anyway.

thanks again, so running unleaded in a '64 225 wont cause any problems? i just want to be 100% sure. i always sort of thought the reasoning was bull as well, but i heard it soo much that i thought it to be true.
