alright preety stupid question but i don't want to do even this the wrong way... what is the best and safest way to pull out a 225...where do i hook up and what do i use...chain or straps...and if your thinking man this guy must be wet around the ears...yeah i am when it comes to my dart...mopar guys are a breed thats not as strong as it used to be...least where i come from...can't get any of these old timers to talk to me...for free...thanks for the help

I think you might like to get a load leveler. You will find the slant shifts around a bit and being able to level it has really helped me. Plus on the putting back in, you can tilit it backward enough to keep on a tranny and level it out as you get it deepen in the compartment. Levelers cost about $20 at harbor Freight. I think cherrypicker from the same store is a great tool to have too at a $150. I have sure used a chain in a tree a lot too! With that technology a leveler would have been bvery useful, too.

You may note that there are 2 bolt holes in the top of the head between
the intake/exhaust and valve cover, one each end of the head,
right on top........

There just for what your planning to do, pull the engine.....
use those bolt holes and the engine will balance pretty well
no mater how you go about pulling it.....

In manule cars I like to drop the trans and bell off before the pull....

On pre-69 D/W trucks drop the trans, flywheel and pull engine with bell attached
and on the manule \6 trucks there are bolts behind the flywheel you
need to remove the bell, much easier when engine is out
and install is much easyier when bell is attached to engine.....

Auto trans, drop or brace trans in place, pull engine

Old iron or no iron

I went out and looked at nine today just to see these holes. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but all I saw was one hole centered. It's the one to the left of the two front valve cover bolts in this pic.



If that's not what we're talking about, could one of you guys please post a pic or give me a better description of where these two holes are that I can't seem to find?

I'm surprised as a newbie that there is not an article on pulling the venerable /6!

Looks very dirty clean between intake and exhaust on #5 cyl and above #1 exhaust behind thermostat housing

My auto choke heater modulator bracket is bolted to the rear hole. I don't have a front hole, just a middle one.

thanks for the help guys the bolt holes were rite where you said and i got that cherry picker swing worked great no bull took like 45min ripped it out clean....
