Hey guys,

Strut rods the same for all A-bodies? I have my eye on a set for my '65 Valiant, but they're from a '73-up car. I already have LCAs from a later car. Also, any harm in buying a used set?

Thanks,

Greg

no they are not all the same--- I believe-- the 62-72 cars are the same --fine thread on both ends-- the 73 up cars have a coarse thread on the "K" portion. Also the newer style is slightly shorter than the old. Lawrence

The newer style of strut rod works very well with a '65. I am running a set from a '75 Dart along with the LCA's.

Not to totally discount what VDart said, but I've recently learned from two different parts suppliers that they are indeed the same from '63-'76. (At least as far as what they sell.)

Seems the only difference is that some newer repro ones are just a larger diameter.

Thanks.

I did not measure but had them side by side & there is a difference in the length of the s/rods. This was also shoulder to shoulder area --not just overall length.
One of the suspension geometry guru's can tell you the effect of longer/shorter strut rods on your alignment specs-- I do not know.

A shorter effective strut rod length gives more positive caster.

True, but caution is needed. Too short and it will pull the LCA into a bind and hurt handling.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.
