I picked up an aluminum steering box at a local yard, and was wondering if there's any way to identify it. It's real tight and smooth, so I may install it in the future if my power steering pump keeps leaking. How do I figure out the ratio?
Thanks ahead!

The ratio is almost certainly 24:1. Almost all of them were. You can determine the ratio by counting turns of the input shaft from one lock to the other.

5¾ turns = 24:1

4½ turns = 20:1 <--my favourite

3½ turns = 16:1
