I have an old hitch from my 63 Dart. I could give you some dimensions if they're the same.

Thank you Dave

A pic or two will also be appreciated if possible - it will give me somewhere to start

Lots of cars and trucks have the same rear frame width as an A-body. I put a receiver hitch on my wife's '72 Duster back in '95. I had a shop weld it right to the subframe. The hole for the ball mount had to be moved from below the cross tube to behind it, but that's it.

If you're on a budget I would measure the subframe width and go hit a wrecking yard and see what matches up.

Thanx

The big issue is that down here in South Africa the there is not many of these guys around anymore on the roads or in wrecking yards

True, but since there are many pickup trucks that have the same width frame rails they can donate a receiver hitch.
