Ok guys
How do you clean the carbon out of a exhaust port and the Valves. I have the head torn down for maint.
It has to be something I can do.
I live 1.5 hours from the closest machine shop and I dont have a tank.
I did get muratic acid and soak the head a couple of hours and that helped.
Just dont want to mess up the guides.
A friend sugested spray gasket remover...any ideas.
Thanks
Frank

hi, do you have a napa or parts place that has carb cleaner in a 5 gallon pail? pick up a pail and dunk everything including rocker shaft and rockers. very important to make sure everything is clean and oil passages are open. you can clean everything at your own place and its still cheaper than paying someone to do it. ron

I had bad carbon build up on my valves, I used oven cleaner. Valves were out of the head, though.

A sand blaster or bead blaster makes fast work out of carbon deposits.

Ain't that the truth! It also makes fast work of your hands if you discover a big hole in the gloves......the painful way
