Most carbs have an internal vent like this. It's supposed to be there, and is not at all comparable to running the external vent to the air cleaner.

Hey Ted,
That is a perfectly fine thing to do, and it's common practice (i've seen several). Since the fuel return line isn't pressurized when the car is OFF it vents just fine.

Just because you don't understand why something's a bad idea and have seen other people do it because they don't understand it either, doesn't make it a perfectly fine thing to do.

After you suggest some alternatives from the stock fuel vapor system like you did with the ignition HEI mod,
where can you buy a new filter and new charcoal refill or a complete new canister?

Please list part numbers and automotive contacts where parts can be purchased.
