Decided today to check the lube level in my 7-1/4" rear end, but the plug in the cover has a rather large 12 point hole of some kind in it. Never seen this before. All others I've seen have a square hole that you can put a 1/2" drive into. Is there a special tool for this, or will something else work?
Thanks!

Same 1/2" square tool, but a double square plug.

I think a double square would have 8 points.....right? This one has 12, but I'll try the 1/2 drive.

Either that or a piece of ½" bar stock from the hardware store.

I guess that makes it a "triple square" socket head plug... it still takes the same 1/2 inch drive tool. :D
