when i pulled the studs out of my head, most were seized pretty badly. some got pretty boogered up, and 2 broke off and i had to drill them and use e-z outs to get em out. i want to go ahead and replace all of the studs. where is the best source for these, part no. etc?

thanks for the reply. when i went to the dorman webpage, it said i had to register to be able to purchase those. when i tried to register it wanted an account number. is there a way around this? or does anyone have a part number for another store?

Dorman products can be purchased at just about any parts store; many have racks of drawers in the store where the items are kept.

I just called NAPA and they cross referenced number and will get mine over night. They did not have cross for brass nuts but any will work I guess. I had to order in packs of 10. As far as the cone nut and triangle washers, I was pleasently suprised when I received my manifold from 1A Auto, they included a complete set of triangle washers, 2 cone nuts, 2 brass washers AND the correct heat stove. (I think thats what its called) brings heat up from exhaust pipe.
I will let you know what I get.

I think I need some final tuning. I didn't have time to do any since I got her running before work and had to get to a van run after work. It was a 2 1/2 hr drive and she ran like It never ran before. The free flowing exhaust makes a heck of a difference. I was cruising in OD at 75 and she hummed along.
Also, not sure if I mentioned but I used the POR15 Factory Manifold Gray on the new piece. It smoked for about 15 min, or it was the gasket, not too sure. But no peeling or flaking after the curing process. It looks real nice.
Now my question is, Is there anything specific I should change with carb or timing settings now that I have removed smog equipment?

I contacted the company that I pruchaced manifold from to see if there was any way they could put a kit together with the acorn nuts, brass washers, triangle washers, center bolt and nut, and heat stove. They are looking into it. Hopefully they can get it together and offer us a nice price.
What kind of interest is there for this?

"Old School"? great movie but a little more work on the slanty to make her sound like that or smoke the hydes.

Jim,well done,I like it Just a FYI,on both my slant vans I wrapped a piece of heater hose around starter wires where they come out from under floorboard.Not a big deal but it looked like it had been rubbing on the 83 so figured a little "padding" wouldn't hurt.Hey,if you're planning on vanning out this way someday I'll let you detail my 80 slant,you did good on your's.Nice

Great shots! Yes, the POR-15 does smoke a little at first but bakes right on and cures. It has held up on my rig for 2 years now since the rebuild. Great stuff!

I would think the kit would sell like hot cakes.

With a distributor recurve you will be smoking those hydes!!!!
