I'm new to this forum and these cars in general. I have a 1962 Valiant. It is in bad need of front floor pans. All of the main suspension points seem to be good. Shock towers are good. I know no one makes body parts for these cars. Does anyone know of a car that floor pans could be removed from and welded into this car or do I have to fabricate my own? Has anyone made their own? Did you weld them or use the new glue peope in this area are talking about?

One option is to clean up the rust and then use fiberglass.

I jus cleaned up my badly rusted trunk. (I thought I needed to replace the floor of the spare compartment)

I cleaned the rust out and then coated it with POR-15. It worked very well. I patched a few of the holes with and epoxy. I'll see how it holds up.

POR-15 also has some fiberglass mesh that you can use with their product. I bought some but I didn't end up using it. I have been told that it works really well for patching holes.

It all depends on how bad your pans are.

Thanks for the info. The pans are gone. Can't really tell what they look like. Have a friend that owns a yard. I am going to try to go there this weekend to see if it looks like anything will fit. I want to use metal. I believe it to be stronger. Hope to have a strong running /6 when I get done with car. Lots of body work first.

I had a 68 Valiant that over time the floor pans rusted out and disappeared. I cut out any rusted metal and got some galvanized sheet tin of the same gage as the original floor. I cut it to fit and put what ever curves in it that it needed. I just ran a bead of tar type sealer around the edges and screwed the tin to the remaining floor and sealed it with some undercoating from underneath and on top. I removed the seats and the carpet and undercoated the whole floor then put everything back in. After you undercoat the floor let the car sit for a couple of days with the windows open so it will dry. Then put everything back together. After you do this there will be no more rust problems.
