The warehouse out here (Los Angeles) supposedly had only two, but they sold them to me for the $2.40 price. They say I can pick them up tomorrow. The guy really seemed to think it was a mistake.

Got one. Found it at a PB across town (Pep Boys ain't doin' too well around these parts), and I had a friend pick it up for me, and I'll get it when I see him Sunday.

$2.70, as stated. Thanks for the heads-up!

I just got two pumps here in Orlando.
One pump has a cast in USA, a pressed on gear with no key, has two humps on the oil cover, and came in a fresh looking Melling box with M-66C. "MADE IN MEXICO"
The other one has NO cast in USA, pressed on gear with no key, a plate steel flat cover, and came in a beat Clevite box with P66C label, but has a new Melling label M-66C over it.

Did you make a typo or did they 'gouge' you an extra .30 cents?  I paid $2.40 for the ones I ordered.

I still think this is "to good to be true" so people who have pumps in hand at this low peice, have themselfs a great buy...
My bet is that the ebay price for these pumps just took a dive.

Hi,
Well, you could sell one a week and fill your gas tank for 2 years
but seriously I hope this does not mean that parts availability for our slant six cars will become more scarce. I did buy a couple in preparation for eventuality....What is the best way to store and preserve them for when they are needed?? thanks, nico

Keep them dry. Any type of oil coating will help but a grease or oil that has a corrosion inhibitor made for preserving parts is the thing to get. The old types worked very well but were rather toxic. An industrial or machine shop supply, a bearing shop, should have something. Cosmoline used to be the most common thing. We used to use a Maltby (probably spelled that wrong) brand spray on engines and it worked real well too.

Kewl :D

I just picked up several this morning that I ordered last week from the warehouse. I have a use for two of 'em right now.

Thanks for the heads up!

Charrlie,

Thanks for the word! I got two, one from the store and one ordered in from Atlanta. I got the same mix Brennan did...one flat cover, one humped cover, Melling and Clevite, etc. How odd. My counter guys noted they ought to buy em new and sell em to a junkyard for $8 for resale.

For some strange reason, I'm suddenly seeing a whackload of new slant-6 oil pumps on eBay for $20 to $40.
