i have a 64 valiant with what i was told was a 225. I was having some timing issues and a cam lobe was going down so i ordered a new cam and timing set. Once i got the head off something didn't look right and when i measured the stroke, sure enough its a 170. the problem is that i already have the parts that are for the 225. Will they work in the 170? thanks

Cam and timing set will interchange. Pushrods would be different if you got those.

Lots of 170 and 225 stuff is common. It's probably easier to list what won't interchange. Block, crank, rods, pushrods.

With a 170 make sure to check the valve to piston clearence, if installing a bigger cam, and milling the head.
