I am going to rebuild (oh what fun) my Carter BBD carb for my super six :P and I was wondering about these throttle bushings I have heard about. How do I replace them, or do I even have to? The throttle doesn't have any play in it, so im guessing its ok. :?:

Also, what other things do I have to do to it, and/or be worried about? I want to get this thing done and on this weekend, so I want to be totally prepared.

Thanks! :D

Note: this thing looks like it hasn't been used in 10+ years, so I want to be thurough.

Here is the Carter BBD operation and repair manual (pdf)

You can't go out and buy replacement carburetor bushings, which don't exist. Instead, you have the throttle body rebushed; see this post.

I Took another look at the carb today, and just my luck, the mixture screws are missing! Can anybody tell me where I can find these? Auto parts stores don't seem to have them. Will two 1 bbl screws work? :? I have those.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The ones I have look like the taper is different between the two. However, you may get them to work. Never tried it.......
I would get another BBD carb for parts to be safe!

Do you mean the carbs or the screws?

Ummmm... ever check Ebay? BBDs are there ALL the time. I'm not sure if I'd trust one for use, but if you just need parts, that seems like the easiest way to go. Heck, if all you need is a parts carb, a 318 BBD would be fine, and there's a MILLION of those out there.

I have checked ebay, and they are all quite expensive, and I only need the mixture screws, not the whole carb, but maybe worth a try.
