Dan is correct. Park the sled until the brakes work, than I will call it a car.

I would advise inspecting the flexible rubber lines if cracked replace them, fit new shoes where you presently have thin ones, and if there any other leaking or stuck wheel cylinders replace them. Oh yeh, check the hard lines for excessive corrosion, and replace as needed. Don't mess around.

A few hundred bucks spent now will save thousands if you were to run into someone because of faulty brakes.

the new master cylinder is in the car. I don't have a vice, so I'm going to bench bleed in the car. To me, i see no difference between a vice and a dowel and being bolted to the firewall and using the rod. as long as the bleeder plugs are in its all the same. But, i need an assistant, so ill have to wait a few hours before my bro comes home from school.

For less than 10 bucks one can purchase a device that alows one person to bleed the brake system.

It consists of a little plastic bottle with a magnet, some tubing, and a few little plastic tips. I had never used one of these gismos until this spring when I had to do brake work on the Dart by my self. The damn works!

My car is caked with factory under coating preventing the magnet from holding. I found that some scrap sheet metal clamped by a pair of vice grips near the wheel cylinders made a nice spot to affix the bottle.

1. Wrap teflon tape around bleeder screws (prevents air from seeping pass threads)
2. Get aquarium airline check valve (rubber flapper kind)
3. Hook tubing (with aquarium check valve) on bleeder and crack bleeder open
4. pump away (make sure you don't run dry at master)
5. goto 3 with different wheel...........

got some help. brakes bled. still super soft and little resistance in drive. thinking next thing is new shoes.

I reread the whole thread and can't find where you said you adjusted the brakes and reported the results. Did you adjust the brakes?

Absolutely not. Completely focused on the master cylinder. hehe. my bad. And I think I came across as an ass in my most recent post. I didnt mean to. Found out my mom has been doing coke and lying so i was in a rather flippant mood. I really do appreciate all the help and advice. Thank you.

Cool beans. My breaks were super out of adjustment and super worn in the back. The fronts are probably super worn as well but I haven't pulled the wheels off yet. I also sought assistance from the local guru on everything cars around here. Dude by the name of Chris Guyers. Solid guy. Anyway, he helped me get the new shoes on and adjust everything. And now I can come to full and complete stops.
