Hi all,

Can someone tell me where the cork gasket (on the right side in the pic below) goes? It is part of a gasket kit, Sealed Power #2601004. I'd appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

Roger

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. I just checked and it doesn't fit my cap, but mine's a '67. This same gasket kit is used for multiple years - maybe a later year cap might use it? Anybody know for sure?

'70-up cars did use a cap with a gasket that might've been kinda close to those dimensions, but this what you're showing us looks to be too large, too thick, and not the right material for an oil cap gasket; I don't think that's what it is. But I can't say what it actually is, either!

(it's a "pocket gasket" — when the engine's all put back together, starts and runs, has good oil pressure and doesn't leak any fluids, you put this gasket in your pocket and call the job done!)

there is a gasket like that between the fill tube of a slant van and the valve cover.

I've been unable to find it listed as a part anywhere, and as such have contemplated buying a whole car/pickup oil cap just to harvest the gasket (operating under the assumption that the gasket would be the same).

The fel pro 225 1960/80, 170, 198,1961/74 gasket sets I have calls it a head cover (valve cover) filler pipe gasket part# 70354, but is not specific as to which "cars" it fits.

Fab64,

I'll buy it from you (unless it holds some sentimental signifigance for you) if you like.

I can't find one anywhere.

It could be for the old style oil filter-inside between the filter element a seat. But I don't know the dim. or if they used these in'67
sometimes they just throw in extra bits to cover a range of years.

Ed,

Yes, I've become very attached to it - LOL!! I'm going to try calling Federal Mogul tomorrow to see if they can tell me. If it turns out I don't need it, it's yours for postage.
