We are trying to ge my new trans in but everytime we tighten the trans case to the motor, we cant move the converter, or even turn the motor over by hand, its stuck. Loosen it just a bit and everythings fine. Is this normal? Can I just bolt the flex plate to the converter and tighten everything down and be done?

Have you made sure the converter is fully seated into the trans?

Yes, and I did the test in the FSM that says to put a straight edge on the case and measure from the converter to the straight edge.

Pull convertor off transmission and see if it will fit the crank (I had a crank that was crushed in on the end and the convertor would not seat in the crank).

check all the things other people have posted, there all good suggestions. My guess is the converter slid forward off the splines during install.I made some "fingers" out of 1x 1/8 band stock, these bolt to the bottom splash shield mounting bosses on the bell housing and hold the converter rearward during install

Well we were able to hold the converter back, and are now able to move it somewhat by hand. The motor turns over with the starter, so I think were going to try and start it.

The hub on the new TC is too big, and to add to that, the flex plate is bent. Im just going to just use the old TC, and an extra flex plate we have.

Id start taking lots of pictures, the trans is probably ruined.Measure the TC snout Dia. and the crank pilot ID.And let us know what they are. If you have a pre 68 engine or crank in your car, then it,s not the trans shop,s fault. If they sent the wrong converter then it is. I once bought a rebuilt 727 converter that had pre 66 coarse splines in it.

If you have a small pilot crank you can't just use the old converter; the splines in the front of the tranny are wrong and it won't mate up properly.

The two "teeth" on the pump are broken. My engine im guessing is post 68 because it has 5 freeze plugs, not 3. The trans Im trying to put in is a '70. I will get out and measure here soon.

Wasn't there some difference between the 198 and the 225?

The teeth broken off the oil pump means the trans needs repaired, might have extensive damage inside. The most common cause is the TC slidding foward and getting misalgined. But you need to find out if the TC was defective or if it,s the wrong crank pilot.
