My searches came up nill on this.
Seems that oil pump and/or gear is a weak spot on a high HP engine.
I wanted to know if anyone has a remote pump set-up.
I have been looking into this ever since they had a stock car at my local lumber yard for customer appreciation day.
It had a really impressive external oil pump all plumbed up (dry sump IIRC).

I found an electric oil pump for a turbo set-up on ebay but it could only sustain 30 psi.

Is someone running this type of system?
Any thoughts /ideas on this?

Off to work :( now BBL.

There are a number of remote, belt drive oil pumps available, Both wet sump and dry sump. Most of the "hard core" slant racers are using something like this. When you enquire, on pricing, be sitting down. I have a "Peterson" single stage wet sump pump, that I bought froma circle track racer, at a super bargain. When I checked on the price for a new one, it was over $500, then you still need the drive setup. The total cost for a "new" system, would be more then what the rest of my engine cost. They are nice, but pricey.

With proper care and set-up, the factory designed oil pump will work fine.
Review the oil pump article for more info.

Stone, order a blue printed pump from Doc. Hardened gear - passages massaged. Give him the specs and he will set the pressures. Easy peasy, lemon squeesy!

I do plan on doing the blueprinting and getting a hardened gear- It was more out of curiosity to see what has been successfully done.
I have never heard mention of any one using a wet/dry sump external/remote pump systems on a slant.

As Charrlie S said there are some hardcore racers use these.

Do these hard core racers own cameras?

I think Ron Hamby Runs an external setup.. I just remember the right side of the engine block being real smooth - No Distributor - No fuel pump - No oil pump.

Last time I saw Ron's car he had a belt driven pump on it. Cox boys had a dry sump, and the green 5 speed car had I believe a wet sump but multi stage pump.

Seymour has an external pump and did an article on it with pictures in one of the SSRN a while back. I'm sure someone will give you the right SSRN number.
