Is there supposed to be a spring under the mechanical vent valve on the holley 1920 carb? My Vent valve is always down and I had pulled the cover off & did not see a spring. If the rod is supposed to push that valve down, how can it do that when the valve is never up?

I don't know what it looks like inside (spring or?) but it should pop up and be within I think .015 of the bottom of the spring loaded rod that goes under the choke pulloff.
