I currently have an '85 2wd ram with hydraulic lifters. we checked compression and #3 cylinder is dead 0 cylinder pressure, burnt or bent valve I am assuming. I also have a mechanical lifter head, and lifters. Am I able to put the mechanical head onto the long block using the Hydraulic Camshaft/mechanical head? or will this not work? I'd rather not have to pull the engine/change cams yet, as this is a work truck we need to use soon. Thanks

Have you pulled the valve cover off yet? You may have a bent or ?? push rod. Might be worth a look.

Frank, I did pull the valve cover off, and the pushrods appeared to be straight. The valves also appeared to be opening and closing the entire as much as I could tell from the top. Everything appeared to be moving like it should from what I could tell. I was hoping I had a bent pushrod, but I dont think I got so lucky. I would like to build another big valve mechanical lifter head anyway, but I didn't want to pull the engine and change camshafts yet, because it is a work truck, and I want to get it back together as soon as I can.
Thanks,
Ryan
