Okay racer guys, how do the tractor pullers and the nostalgia drag racers couple two engines together? Could I put two slants together and do it in a way that could be half a$$ streetable? I am hot rodding an old pick up and going to create a custom frame anyway. I know that this will more than double my engine costs but would it quadruple the headaches? If I could pull it off it would be quite a slantable moment! What do you guys think?

You can couple two motors through a 4x4 transfer case.

motor#1 drives through the trans to the transfer case in the normal fashion. Motor #2 drives through the trans to the front tranfer case output. (normally for the front driveshaft.

I'm a bit confused, you looking to use two engines to drive a custom truck? In what arrangement?

Sandy, thanks for the reply but you may have to draw me a picture! Slant6 wonder, two slants linked in-line crank to crank, one in front of the other dumping through one transmission. Yes, I need therapy!

You could make a coupler and join them crank flange to damper.

It would be different.

Wasn't there a dragster set up with two slants back in the late 60's?

Don't know about Slants, but twin engine dragsters used to be very popular before blowers got really big. Eddie Hill, The Freight Train, Bean Bandits, TV Tommy Ivo. Ivo even ran a 4 motor car for a while.

Hill's had 2 Pontiac motors that meshed at the flywheel ring gears. He blew a flywheel at Indy and almost killed some people.

Buddy of mine tried running 2 BB Chevies on nitrous in T/AD in the 80's. He was not successful.

Thanks guys for you interest and help. Came across a picture of slingshot dragster with two Chevy sixes and that has been stuck in my brain ever since. My pick up project will be highly modified and hopefully have a sixties drag racing vibe. I know there are guys who do nostalgia drag racing who are on the H.A.M.B so I will probably pose the same question over there. Maybe I can find someone who is currently doing this to see if it is actually feasable or quite possibly a mechanical nightmare!
