When I originally posted about this I had forgotten about all the work James Jaggers had done. In the mean time I hit water when attempting to offset my intake ports. I'll likely fix my head, but will probably forgo the testing.

Who has used the MP porting templates?

I enjoy porting and polishing.

Anyone think unshrouding stock valves will help economy?

Is this the MP parts book, or the racing manual?

I have 4 racing manuals (different years), looked in all of them and still can't find "templates", There are sketckes of the port, but no actual templates. Mopar used to sell a plastic sheet with templates printed on it, for the V-8"s. You would cut the template of of the sheet, and use it as a guage, in the post to guid your grinding. I have never seen one for the slant.

Josh, If you can wait awhile you could run you test of the more built heads with and w/o the hurricane intake as well. Intakes can hamper intake flow as well. I will see if I can find my flow sheet for my head. I am running 1.72I/1.50E chevy's. I dont know for sure but altitude is 2800 feet or so. I got 195 cfm at .650 ant 200 with no valve. Josh what is your elivation? I'll see if I can free some cash for you as well.

That's all it is. It's a sketch of the port. Ihave never seen templates so I assumned that you cut them out and placed them in the runner.

i wonder if anyone has tried checking flow of head with intake attached and ported to obtain same flow through all 6 runners to even out flow between runners with intake manifold attached. have also heard of some guys welding a piece of 1/4 inch square aluminum in the intake around the 3 and 4 cylinder runner area to help equalize flow.

I think there is a diagram of that in the archives here.

Rug I have the MP 6cil. book and I can't find anywere in the text next to the ports sketch that states they are "Performace Temples" it only says that they are a "typical Intake and Exhaust port layout" and (maybe I'm wrong) but I allways have thought that those drawins were of stock ports and not performance ports templates.

As I said, maybe I'm wrong... I don't have the book here to double check, but this is what I remenber.

I've never cut them out and checked them in the ports.

Never crosses my mind when I'm grinding on a head :P
