I'm wondering what it takes to make a 65 904 pushbutton trans work in my 63 wagon(pushbutton as well). Is the 65 pushbutton a 1 year only make?

just to be clear, the 65 isn't technically a push button, but it still uses the 2 cable system with a column shifter, instead of a push button shifter.

To use a 65 cable shift trans with a 60-64 PB shifter, you only need to swap out the valve body (use the 64 VB in the 65 trans). Another option is to just install the 64 "manual valve" and shifter detent "comb" , into the 65 valve body.

Charlie I believe he has a 63 PB, could he put his 63 VB in, or is there a specific reason it has to be the 64? Thanks!

'60-'64 pushbutton valve body (or components) are what's needed for the swap.
