looking for your input on a Aluminum intake manifold 1bbl for my slant 6 225 rebuild , i have a chance to pick one up , it is the casted Aluminum 1 piece , i want to keep my van rebuild with the original configuration as close as possible , let me know what you all think ~~`thanks

There were two types of aluminum one barrel intakes made for slant sixes. One was a two piece design, the other was a one piece design. The one piece design came on 80s era trucks and vans and is the better design. The two piece design came in the late 70s/early 80s and is known to have problems with air leaks on the poorly welded seam.

That being said, a good thick layer of paint might be all you need to seal up a two piece model. You should also be aware that the aluminum intakes are known to crack directly below the carb in the "hot-spot" where the intake and exhaust manifolds meet, right around the EGR port.

True, but the chances of seeing the 1960 pieces are slim to none, same with the Feather Duster intake. Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

thanks for your input ~~ it is the casted aluminum 1 piece not the welded or 2 piece type

I am running one and love it. It warms up real quick on cold mornings.
