How long is your present cable? Care to show us some photos?

Cable doesn't look too short, but also doesn't look like a throttle cable. Looks like maybe a bicycle cable? Can't tell. Is the end piece screwed solidly to the carburetor throttle lever, or can it pivot? It needs to be able to pivot or you can get binding.

Well.. thats a choke cable that I modified, it works but, it sticks open. The OEM cable was short. The cable end is able to pivot freely it seems to be binding in the cable, I lubed it with STP that did help.

Choke cable is neither adequate nor safe as a throttle cable.

I know that now, as it isn't working right. I am trying to find a shop that can make a cable for me or can sell me a compleat assembly that is the proper length that is both adequate and safe.

Some of the carbureted front wheel drive throttle cables out of 2.2 K cars & vans are longer, and 2.6 still even longer. I think Rock Auto lists cable length of these cables. These cables can be fitted to our slant cars and made to work with little effort by adjusting the grommet that pass through the bulkhead.

I went to a motorcycle shop and got a used used cable from a japanese bike for $3.50. I had to cut it and fit it but it works smooth and freely with no binding or sticking.
Thanks for the help agin.
