Well pics are worth a thousand words, bottom I brought the motor to TDC, installed degree wheel, zero'ed it out and turned it by hand (read breaker bar and a 1 5/16th socket thank you Mopar big block for the donation (oil slinger, crank bolt and washer)) brought slightly ahead at 250degs if I am reading it right instead of the recommeded 240degs. but when I bring it to 240degs, its only at 0.044 lift, so obviously its only a tooth off, gonna have to say cam gear,

can I leave it or do I have to adjust btw cam specs are 270in 280ex 112deg LSA 240in/250ex @ .050 lift

so you crank it all the way over till the intake is fully open....zero the dial... measure .050 before and after max lift add the 2 then divide in half to get installed centerline.......right ???????

-Mike

BTW MAD PROPS TO YOU MAX !!!!

ok so I got 152 and 63 (did it backwards but ok) added together it equals 215 divided by 2 equals 107.5degs installed center line. the LSA on this cam is 110deg (turbo cam) intake lobe is 106 ( i assume installed centerline) , but then again I never got a cam card with the cam (since I didn't know it was supposed to come with one, 1st cam purchase),
So am I off a tooth for 1.5 deg's ?? or can i run as is ??

Degreeing is first step is finding the difference of two readings (one reading on the dial then other way on new dial reading). Add up and split it for new degrees, then move pointer to that, that's your zero setting. of your crankshaft first with hard stop piston. Then determine your centerline of your camshaft based on crankshaft.

I may not make sense but I'm tired.

Cheers, Wizard

1 degree or so doesn't matter much..........If you're sure you did it right (sounds like you did) I'd run it....................wouldn't bother me at all. But you may want a second opinion. but sounds like you have it down pat.
regards..............max

From your description I believe you are finding the intake centerline just fine. 107.5° is too far retarded. I'd run that cam about 102° ATDC intake centerline.

cam card says 106deg installed (see above image) ^^^^^^^, Josh how would I advance (?) the cam to 102* ATDC, and what benefits would there be to doing so ??

It's easiest to change the installed centerline with an offset bushing in the dowel pin hole. Mr. Gasket makes the kit andSummit Racing sells them. With the cam advanced you will get more low end and mid-range torque with little, if any loss on the top end. The car will be quicker and more fun to drive.
