I have a 85 engine that loses 10w30 oil at a rate of 1qt per 1500 miles. The engine has well over 100k on it, it has relatively new front main seal new valve cover gasket/head gasket and valve seals. The exhaust has no blue smoke and I do not see any engine oil drips on the engine. I am for a loss. Can any one offer any suggestions.

Thanks for any help

At 1 qt per 1500 miles you won't notice any blue smoke........

It's most likely burning it off, and if the plugs don't get fouled, I wouldn't worry about it.....

One quart ever 1500 miles on that old an engine? You have high standards Sir. I myself would be perfectly happy.

Unless my engines use more than 1 quart every 800 miles, I am quite happy.

Back in the day, when these cars were new, the factory considered 1 qt per 1,000 mile acceptable.

You may want to check the calibration of your dipstick... no joke.

On my 66 Dart wagon, if I fill it to the "Full" mark, on the dipstick, it will quickly drop back down to the add line, then stay there.
I later found-out that when at the full mark, there are 6 quarts in the engine. :?
These days, I run it at the add line and it "uses" way less oil.

Your engine is perfect. Mine on the other hand loses about a quart every 100 miles, im pretty sure its leaking but i dont get many drips on the driveway, must be accentuated under load. I was thinking worn valve guides but there is no blue smoke on startup.
