Anyone out there running a 1-inch torsion bar in their A-body with the slant 6? Too big?

1.04" in my '67 Valiant. No problems as long as you have good shocks and the car isn't rusty. I'm running QA1 single adjustable Stocker Star shocks.

Add the best shock you can afford.

If you're running a lowered A-body and want a very good front shock you can use Bilstein B46-1104. It's a GM shock so you have to cut and remove the cross-pin at the bottom and insert the sleeve from the bottom of your old front shocks, but it's well worth the trouble. A friend is using these on his '68 Valiant with 1.20" torsion bars and reports excellent results. I'm about to pull the trigger and order them for my Barracuda. OK, I did it. I ordered Bilsteins for the Barracuda. They will be controlling 1.14" torsion bars.

I’m running just a bit smaller size, 0.940â€￾ Firm Feel torsion bars, with an Adco anti sway bar up front, and cheep Monroe-matic shocks on all four corners.

The car corners flat, doesn’t keel-over in tight turns or nose dive during hard stops. Also, I have the Formula S Cuda stile six leaf rear springs out back. We have our share of rough roads in Maine as well, and this combination gives a nice solid ride, with out rattling one’s teeth loose. The ride is close to my 300C’s, perhaps a wee bit softer.
