What year did the head change so you have to remove it to get the lifter out??? I have an 80.

The head changed in '75. The loss of spark plug tubes meat the loss of easy access to the lifters.

Not so, you should be able to remove the lifters without removing the head with a '80 or later head.

Kevin that isn't going to work the lifters are much larger than the push rod holes in the head. :roll: :tsk: :lol:

I believe '81 was the latest (hydro) head with larger pushrod holes, just bigger than lifters. '76-81 was one with small pushrod holes and no drool tubes.

I have an '80 head seating on the floor that you can slip the lifters thru. The '79 head that is currently on my engine you can not.
