im looking for sway bars... front and back... i found a few kits... from jegs and from carjunky

my question is... are these any good?? or do you know of bettter for around the same price? *also these are kits*

I have an Addco 1 1/4" front bar, not happy with its bushing mounting method, very happy with its price. It worked so-so.... I'm in the process of a bushing mount redesign.

the prices are nearly double for each of them, its around 700 dollars for those sway bars compared to 300 for the other ones...

I think a 7/8 rear bar is too big for use with a slant six...


The addco rear mounting isn't all that bad.

It's the front mount you have to fix and improve.

One thing to consider is what year car is it going on? That affects how it mounts, no? I have an Addco front bar on my '76, that I got here:

The mounting hardware it came with looked okay, but I had a set of LCA's with factory sway bar tabs, so I used those.
I have an unknown origin rear bar hanging on the shop wall, but I'm waiting until I have the car all sorted out and dialed in, to see if I even want to run it.

On a '74 the Addco 186 front sway bar is fine because the chassis mounting is completely different. It's in stock at Summit. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ACO-186/

I agree the 7/8" rear sway bar is too much. 5/8" is probably about right, but 3/4" appears to be the smallest. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ACO-919/

Thanks, I hate seeing people pay too much or get the wrong parts. Also, with a 3/4" rear sway bar the car is probably going to be tail happy at the limit. I would suggest you test the car in a safe place and find the handling limits where it won't cost you a wreck or worse.

Right now my Valiant has 1.04" torsion bars and no sway bars. It corners quite well, but I may add a front sway bar and drop the torsion bar size a bit to soften the ride slightly. The big thing with running high rate torsion bars is the shocks. I have QA1 single adjustable shocks on the Valiant. I have Bilstein shocks on the front of my '66 Barracuda (it's a race car project) with 1.14" torsion bars, but haven't road tested it yet. I expect it will be fine as a friend has 1.20" torsion bars on his '68 Valiant with the same shocks and it rides quite well.

Hotchkis provides awesome front and rear sway bars. You can buy them each or as a kit.

again... 683 dollars for their kit... better than some... but when i can pick up what i need for 300 or less... >.> thats always good

www.firmfeel.com is the place to go for Mopar suspension stuff. Hellwig has good bars also.

I've used Hellwig stuff for years and always been happy. Have one on the front of my 1970 Challenger...
