I couldn't find any info on how to check valve to piston clearance so I did my own. Filled the remaining space in 2 cylinders after hitting the top with clay, snugged the head with push rods, turned crank enough times to see the valves move, checked clay. That should be it right :?: (thanks(again)

Yup, that works. Make sure you do it with the same type of head gasket you will be using in the final assembly.
