Ok, so I ordered one of summits universal street/strip aluminum radiators to replace the one in my car. It's a crossflow, 22" wide x 19" tall x 2.25" thick. I was wondering what people have done/recommend for mounting an aftermarket radiator. I was thinking 4 L brackets with rubber and bolt it to the radiator support top and bottom on each corner.

Looks like you support it from the top and bottom.

I'd use angle aluminum or plate aluminum (home depot) that attaches along the whole length of the radiator, then attach to the top and bottom of the opening. Whatever works best.

The aluminum will also act as a wind stop so air has to go thru the radiator.

You could rubberize it too.

Shouldn't be too hard to fab something like that yourself. I think I might coat them with plasti-dip or something like that, just to prevent wear spots.

Okay, here is a complication, kinda. First off it looks great in the car and fits great, except for the opening in my radiator support is a tad too big side to side, its got clearance on either side of the tanks, should I bolt on something here to deal with that? these are what I think I'm going to mount the radiator to the support by, its metal flanges on the top and bottom of the core, I'll take a picture of it in the car tomorrow:

I would recommend closing off the extra openings. If you don't it will be an area where air can go around the radiator instead of through it.
Should be able to do so with a couple pieces of sheet metal/aluminimum.

I used a couple "L" brackets from my local hardware store along with some thick red rubber plumbers gasket. I used a bolt and 3 nuts so I bolted the bolt to the bracket, then drilled a hole in the radiator support, then I had a nut on the top side of the support so I can change the pitch of the bracket for more or less clamping force, then I put a nut on the bottom of the support, so far its effective, the radiator doesn't move at all.

I do need a new upper radiator hose though :?

Ya im thinking an A body V8 hose would do the trick,maybe one from an A/C car would be best.

You could also install a straight (V8) water outlet that would point towards the driver's side rather than towards the sky, thus shortening the top hose's route considerably.
