Just recieved my ausi made balancer and looks good. Wondering what the easiest way to install, do you heat them up or do I need to buy a longer bolt then what I already have and find a way to lock the motor?

Don't heat it up!

Installation is by means of an appropriate bolt. An air wrench makes the quickest installation, though a strap wrench can be used if you need to lock the engine.

I've heated up Chevy ones with a propane torch for a min and went on with a few decent taps. But I'm sure its not good for the rubber. I'll just buy a longer bolt and I didn't even think of using my big impact. Thanks

Longer bolts and large washers of the proper size are often found on Mopar V8's. I keep one just for installing dampers.

I noticed that this damper has 2 marks, one lines up with 0 and another about 1 o clock what's the 1 oclock position for?

Some early engines had timing tab on drivers side (bolted to timing cover).

Is this other mark a full mark front to back or is it just on part of the damper?

both marks, are only on the back half of the belt groove. (closer to engine) nothing at all on the front half

I finally got my air compressor back home from using it texturing ceilings and walls for a house I've been working on. Anyways, I got the bolt and washer. I oiled up the damper in side and out, but it seems to be quite a tight fit. It started folding the washer and now it seemed like its gauling the threads a little. And with the impact, its actually spinning the entire crank. I don't think its butted down all the way. There is about a 1/4 between bracket and back of damper

That is why you need a harmonic balancer installer. Go to your local auto parts store and rent one. It will save you a lot of hassle, and the threads in your crank snout will thank you.

Also, the problem with heating things up to install them is that they are a PITA to get back off. I found out the hard way with crank sprocket on my truck.

What's the part number for a decent installer

Just go to an autoparts store and ask for a harmonic balancer installer. No part number to it.

Most of your major chain brands (except NAPA) have a tool rental program.
