Rick pinion angle is the difference between the angle of the transmission and the angle of the pinion yoke. Driveshaft angle has nothing to do with it.

Put your angle finder on the flat of the yoke with it level, and get your trans number off the pan if you have to.

Every time I do this I get confused. The MP Chassis manual says to measure the driveshaft angle and then the angle at the yoke relative to the ground to get the correct "rear universal joint angle" What am I missing here? I thought I had it all ready to go!! I be stupid!!

Every winter there are as many "pinion angle" threads on Moparts as there are aluminum head threads here.

Ok Big D. Guidance appreciated! I pulled the driveline and here are my readings.

Off of transmission dust boot 4 degrees down
Off of rear yoke 2 degrees down

Sooo! if I understand (which I probably don't) In an ideal world I would want the rear at the opposite angle 4 degrees up, so the two offset each other.

Then to allow for wind-up I need 3-4 degees down from the tranny reading.
That would mean my rear yoke needs to be at 0 degrees to have 4 degrees difference?

Right now I am at 6 degrees, and am not changing until I here from you!



One other thing is that my car is a stock leaf spring car & automatic. It will be a 4 speed before it is all over. That article does not mention a stock leaf spring reading. Maybe my 6 degrees is OK??

If it were me, I'd put the rear at 0 and call it a day.


I'll take your aluminum head and CAD it, then start casting copies down at my shop. I can melt down Jaguar blocks I get from the junkyard down the road and make a fortune.

You mean I actually understood it!!! Miracles do happen. But they don't last long! Next week I probably won't remember!

I only cast 30 of the aluminum heads, but yours is on the way. I am having trouble getting the direct cylinder injection to work right with the twin turbos. Maybe you can help.
