im wondering what all i should be doing to my rebuilt motor on the stand, then what do i finish up when i drop it in.

meaning, is it easier to assemble manifolds on stand, or after its dropped in the car, certain brackets, coil, alternator, whatever whatever..

anything i should address on the car before slinging the motor?

it would be a great help if i could get a list of what makes the process easier, thanks guys

Point of safety do not use a 3 leg engine stand, the slant engine will tip them over very easy.

If you have shorty manifolds you can assemble the whole smash and prep it to drop into the car. I mount the alternator brackets, but do not install the alternator in case the engine needs to shift or be 'rocked' into place. You can also install your motor mounts as well (make sure the passenger side bracket is installed correctly).

If it's spool that mount and drop it in. It sounds like you have sandwiches so I'd mount the brackets and leave the rubber in the car (although in my '67 Valiant I opted to mount the rubber on the passenger side then drop it in because that side is kind of tight to get a wrench into).

Now might be a good time to clean and paint the engine bay. Dehorn any sharp edges while you're at it.

The engine bay still has the original paint, no rust, unless your talking about the corners of the fenders and underneath the windshield. It's a given to degrees the whole frame, cross member, suspension and steering parts. Very dirty, just wondering if there is something out of the ordinary to address.

Also I can't remember what its for, its a bracket that's sort of triangle shaped, with a small 90* bend, with a hole at the tip, 2 more on the bend

Sounds like the trans-to-engine bracket. Bolts on, under the starter, along side the oil pan. Single hole forward, with the two-hole flange matching up to the bell housing/starter bolts.
