I plan on fixing my /6 and want a carb with more cfm, can I adapt a Ford 2 or 1 bbl carb ,used on 300cid engines, on my six?

There would be no point adapting a 1bbl from a Ford. They are about the same size as the 1bbls used on the slant-6; you'd have adaptation hassles for no benefit.

A 2bbl carburetor is a popular upgrade. There are many ways to do it, and there are many different 2bbl intake manifolds. There is also the option of custom-modifying a 1bbl intake manifold to accept a 2bbl carburetor; for example, See the parallel 2bbl setup article. Photo documentation of a very well done such conversion is here.

There are adaptors that will let you mount a 2bbl carburetor on a 1bbl intake manifold. These are dumb; don't waste your time, money, or effort.

If you'll provide more specifics about your vehicle and engine and how you intend to use it and what you want it to do, more specific and helpful recommendations can be made.
