Has anyone ever run the Mopar 528 lift cam with 340 valve springs? Did they have enough pressure? What about coil bind? Or did you have to run dual springs?
I have several sets of 340 springs, but no dual springs. I am going to try that cam, but I am being myself..............."FRUGAL"

I wasn't brave enough to try it Charlie. Mike did not put double spings on mine, but we did move up from the 340 springs. IIRC, the .528 cam is just a touch over what Mike felt safe with 340 springs. They are good for roughly .500 gross lift.

With valve lash you are pretty close to .500 anyway. It may be something to give a try. Then you can let us know how it works Charlie!!

I'm thinking the 340 springs are marginal. If it was a 225 and only turning a max of 6,000 rpm, I would probably try the 340 springs. This is a 170 and will be turning close to 7,000 rpm, so I guess I will have to bite the bullet, and buy some springs. Will have to wait for a little while, till the budget allows. Meanwhile I will cut the guides for seals, do a little grinding on the pushrod holes (late style head, and the 3/8 pushrods are rubbing). Maybe even put in some MP over size valves, with pocket porting. This would all be free labor (mine )

Coil bind is the issue. These do not look good to me.

Yep. I'm thinking, "penny wise and pound foolish". There is a difference between "frugal" and "cheap". I will just wait a little bit and get a better spring for the application. Anyone have a deal on some springs?

run these...

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-99839-16/

they will give you a good 300 open pressure 130 seat...

something to remember to is Lift(- lash) + .050 clearance + coil bind = installed height...

these will give you the pressure and with .020 shim or so (on a 1.7 stock installed height) should have you set...
