Hi, first time here. I am looking at a 1982 D150 Slant 6 with 4 sp manual toploader NP435 with granny 1st.

I want to replace with a 4 sp with over drive. What can I put in the truck?
A535 or a A833 OD?

The truck is a 4x2 shortbed.

You will need to secure the linkage, tranny, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, and drive shaft yoke from a similar year Truck to bolt in an A-833OD...( you may not need the linkage if your NP435 set up is not hydraulically actuated.

The bolt patterns between the two bells are different and the NP-435 bell houses a large flywheel with the 11" clutch...the OD tranny only used a 10" clutch and the smaller flywheel).

Unfortunately I have only mocked up an adapter plate that would allow you to just "plug and play" the A-833OD.

Sunday I just got the bell bolted to a mock block and crank and the input shaft seemed to be spot on... probably be next spring before I have it installed and working.

The truck I found is in excellent condition, it's just the non-od 4 speed manual that bothers me.

So basically its not that simple to do (yet). I am looking for fuel economy as this will be my daily driver.
I currently drive a 1969 Plymouth Valiant 4dr 225 Slant 6 with a 904 and 14" tires. I get 16 city 20 hwy. not great, but ok.

I also have an 88 W100 4x4 319 shortbed, it sucks gas..... I don't need it want another slant 6... my 69 is my fifth slant.

Thanks for the heads up.

Jeff

I'd be interested in the flywheel and bellhousing if there were a way to get it here at a reasonable cost.

Do you need a floor hump as well? I know the floor hump in a granny trans truck is shaped a little differently than an 833 OD truck. Can a hole just be cut in the side of the original hump or do you need to cut the hump out and weld in an 833 hump?

Do not need the hump, I have one from a 318-np435 pickup

If you're getting 16/20mpg with your current dd, you probably won't get much better with a truck. I have the same setup but with a long bed and an extra 500+lbs on my truck and I can get a solid 18hwy. The best I've ever gotten was 19. And I have an hei ignition, dutra duals with a 2.5" exhaust and a homemade supersix with a Carter bbd. I still only get 16-18. If I took some weight off maybe 20mpg. With a stock.engine with an OD tranny you might be able to get better but remember, it's all in your driving habits. Also these trucks are like pushing a brick through air.

the OD 883 is side mount shifter the nps are top load....so you need the shifter cover , and hole cut in side of hump, and top loader hole covered
