Hey guys,I'm in OZ as well,have been looking at cam options locally for a very similar build have you tried Waggotts? I sent them details a while back but haven't heard back as yet,perhaps 3 customers combined would inspire them into action? I have experienced the pentastar parts cam (or at least that's what they told me was in the engine they built for my parents VC) my experience is that I wouldn't bother again,it runs decent,but nothing special and its now starting to foul #1 plug,hence Im building a replacement motor for it .Years ago I ran a heatseeker cam I bought from Watsons ,it was a very mild grind that was far superior in a mild street motor. There is also Camshaft engineering in Brisbane,I have an LPG 318 stroker they did the cam for me with good results.Failing all that,perhaps we could do a group buy from Ersons and save with combined shipping? I wont be needing any camshafts soon.
I recently recieved one from Hemi Performance ,but it was the wrong one.
called them today and they are sending the correct one down as I type this,no Drama.
I have not tried waggots.wade etc. In fact I have never had to buy a cam before this one. The cam I got(am getting) from hemi Performance is supposed to be a torque type cam ,good for towing etc.
Now that doc has posted all the relative info here, I am interested to see if somebody in OZ can grind the same as the two he showed us,and for how much$??

So i showed the two cam designs doc posted earlier in this thread and i was advised they are hydraulic lifter cams? Is that right? If so i guess i am back to square one.

If your cam regrinder told you that, time to take the business elsewhere, quickly...no those are mechanical grinds.

Thankyou, haha that is what i thought.

"Deflection" is valve train deflection, from the lifter bores, rocker arms, valve guides, etc.

The "Hot Lash" settings tells me that these are mechanical cams.

Thanks again Doc, I found another supplier locally who knew it was a mechanical cam straight away. Fingers crossed for a better result. My final question is that is a cast iron cam acceptable for my application? Most aftermarket cams I have seen advertised are steel billet etc that's all.

Iron cams were good for a trip to the moon and back in mileage terms in stock cars...never had a problem with a regrind on the stock blank or new iron blank either...billet would be good if you are going to try a roller cam profile for HP applications (not like these blanks are on the shelf...), but is not necessary for daily driving and regular dragstrip uses.
